Obituary for Florence Evelyn Cruce Standridge Florence Evelyn Cruce Standridge of Blount County, Alabama, passed away of natural causes at the age of 94. She is survived by her brother, Glenn Cruce, Sr. (Gwen), and her children, Elmer Standridge, Jr. (Paula), George Standridge (Kay), Bonita Flippo-Powell (Don), and Nancy Crane (Larry). Florence “Granny” will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Jennifer Fancher (James), Erin Hathcock (Russell), Meredith Standridge, Blake Flippo (Kathryne), Matthew Standridge (Sarah), Russell Standridge (Magaly), Mary Catherine Crane, Samuel Standridge (Haley), Alison Crane and seven great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Standridge, Sr.; her parents, George and Bessie Gray Cruce; brother, Stephen Cruce; and her sisters, Mabry Martin and Georgellen Sheckles. Florence thanked God each morning for the beautiful day set before her and cherished each moment with her family and friends. She lived and loved fully and completely; because of her adventurous and curious spirit, she travelled the world and experienced more than most could ever dream.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at The New Gardendale Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Hayden Cemetery. Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations can be made to Mrs. Standridge’s home church, Smoke Rise United Methodist Church or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
