Obituary for Fr. Terence Pescatore OFM Conv. Fr.

Terence Pescatore, OFM Conv. was born in Hoboken, NJ on March 16, 1927 and passed away on December 17, 2018. He was the son of the late Domenico and Pasqualina (née Napolitano) Pescatore.

In addition to his Franciscan family, he leaves his nephew Anthony Natale and many extended family members. Prior to entering the Franciscans, Fr. Terry served in the U.S. Nave as a radarman from January 1945 through July 1947.

After that time, he worked as a sewing machine operator from 1947 until 1953. Fr. Terry entered the Franciscan Friars Conventual Novitiate in Middlebury, NY, on August 14, 1955.

He professed his Temporary Vows on August 15, 1956 and his Solemn Vows on September 27, 1959. Father Terence was ordained to the priesthood in the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Albany, NY, on May 26, 1962. His first assignment after his ordination and studies was at St. Anthony Parish, Inlet, NY where he was Temporary Assistant Pastor for six months.

In October 1962 he was sent to Cuernavaca, Mexico for a year of language studies for his work in the Delegation in Costas Rica. At different times, Fr. Terry worked as moth a parish priest, Teacher, Director of Clerics and Novice Director in the work needed in Costa Rica.

Returning to the United States in 1973 he was assigned as Parochial Vicar at St. Joseph Parish in Hoboken, NJ until 1980. From 1980 to 1981 he ministered at Mary Arc of the Covenant in New York City. He returned to St. Joseph, Hoboken in 1982 and served as Assistant Pastor until 1985.

Becoming Spiritual Assistant to the Secular Franciscan in 1985 he moved to Staten Island, NY for two year. In 1987 he was named International Spiritual Assistant and moved to the Curia in Rome, Italy until 1989. During the following years, Fr.

Terry offered retreats and was part of the Ministry Team at St. Anthony-on-Hudson, Rensselaer, NY. He accepted an assignment in 1997 as Assistant Pastor at Blessed Sacrament parish, Burlington, NC. Fr.

Terry accepted to reside and to do Pastoral Work as he was able in 2005 and moved to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Seaside Heights, NJ. In 2010 he was transferred to St. Catharine Parish in Seaside Heights, NJ In 2016, Fr. Terry was transferred to Our Lady of the Angels Care Center, inEnfield, CT where he met Sister Death on December 17, 2018.

Fr. Terry will lie instate in St. Catharine of Siena Church, 50 E St., Seaside Park, NJ 08752, from 3-7:00 P.M. on December 20, 2018, with a Franciscan Wake Service at 7 P.M. On December 21, 2018, 2018, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M.,with a viewing from 9 -9:45 A.M. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Trenton, NJ, in the Franciscan Friar’s plot. Memorial Donations may be made to the Franciscan Education Burse, 12300 Folly Quarter Road, Ellicott City, MD 21042.
