She was born October 5, 1930 to the late Jesse Walter Tucker and Minnie Mae Via Tucker, both of Madison. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Franklin Allen, and sons Walter Enos Allen and Nathan Ross Allen, sister, Oneda Cardwell, brothers, Jesse Tucker, Jr. and Donnie Tucker; daughter-in-law, Susan Schmidt. She is survived by one son, Claude W. Allen, one daughter, Leann Allen Hanks; ten grandchildren, Jason Allen, Nicholas Allen, Daniel Allen, Trinity Spurlock, Megan Beck, Krystal Thacker Pass, Samantha Hanks, Erin M. Allen, Lisa E. Allen, and Ian C. Allen; sixteen great grandchildren, Jessie, Benjamin, Steven, Sidney, Sarah, Eli, Maggie, Miller, Kaydence, Noah, Akianna, Tiera, Kamryn, Raylin, Aaron, and Dakota; great great-grandson, Tyler; brothers and sisters, Wayne Tucker (Jane), Denise Kiser (Gene), Bonnie Mabe (Buddy), Joanne Gill, Early Ray Tucker (Betty), Nancy Dillard (James) and Shirley Fields.

She was a simple but complex woman. Always the optimist, she looked for the good in everything and everyone, that is, unless you were a fox, and even in that encounter she found wisdom and humor. Fiercely independent, she was forever teaching us that we should always live and love but that we should be able to handle things ourselves, as evidenced by her learning to drive at the age of 55.

She was stubborn to a fault in her beliefs, and no mother, is not pronounced juh-lop-uh-no. Sorry. It is hal-uh-pea-nu-yo (jalapeno).

But far and above, her most redeeming quality is that when a call for help went out, she was first in line. It made no difference if you were family or a friend, known or unknown. As she would say, “You needed help, so I helped.

It’s only right”. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in her honor to your local Hospice and Palliative Care branch or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Finally, the family wishes to thank the Earth bound angels that are also known as the management and staff of Brookdale Reidsville.

Your care and love were always evidenced by the way you assisted her thru these end times. Had she not known that you truly cared and loved her, you would have never earned the title “Sugar”. Long may Queen Fre Fre be remembered.

Rest well momma. When I felt lost, you were there. When I needed strength, you had strength to spare.

When I sought guidance, you showed me the way. When I needed advice, you knew what to say. When I think of these things I begin to see, what you have given in love has become a part of me.
