Obituary for Georgia Hooper McKinney Georgia Hooper McKinney, 92, went home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Thompsonville Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Campbell officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 22, 2018 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M. and other times at the home of her son Dale McKinney. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Georgia was born to John and Grace Hooper on August 15, 1925.

She was a lifetime native of Rockingham County. A graduate of Reidsville High School, she retired after 44 years of service from American Tobacco Company. She was a long time member of Thompsonville Baptist Church and a member of the Sunshine Ladies Sunday School class.

Georgia enjoyed sewing and traveling with her friends, but most of all she loved being a mother and grandmother. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Everett Aubrey McKinney; brothers, John, Jim and Frank Hooper. Survivors include her son, Dale Everett McKinney (Kami); grandson, Quentin Everett McKinney; sisters in law, JoAnne Hooper Reck and Jeannie Somers Hooper, along with numerous nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family.
