Fred W. Greene, 74, of Brevard, North Carolina, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at his residence. Mr. Greene was born in Norfolk, Virginia on June 21, 1944 to the late Frederick W. Greene Sr. and Theodosia Bradley Greene. He was married to his wife of 29 years, Julie B. Greene.

He served his country proudly in the United States Army and retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections with whom he served as Warden at several institutions. Mr. Greene enjoyed making people laugh in the community little theaters. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Greene of Brevard; two sons, Frederick W. Greene III of Virginia and Brandon Ashley Greene of New York, New York; two sisters, Frances G. Holsinger and Carole Ann LaRose, both of Norfolk. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, January 28, 2019 at St. Phillips Episcopal Church in Brevard, and will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas Murphy and Rev.

Dan Matthews. A celebration of life service will follow at the Connestee Falls Clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Judes Childrens Hospital or Transylvania Hospice.
