David Lee “Red” Wilson, 67, of Burnsville, North Carolina, died Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. Red was born February 5, 1951, in Burnsville (Busick), North Carolina to the late Hattie Lavina Chrisawn and Ervin Arnold Wilson. He was married to Deborah Jean Robinson Wilson, his wife of 41 years.

Red worked in furniture manufacturing at Henredon, with whom he retired. He enjoyed fly fishing, hunting arrowheads, wood working and making walking sticks, weaving baskets, playing with the dogs, and picking at the grandkids. Red is survived by his wife, Deborah Jean Robinson Wilson of Burnsville, North Carolina; son, Kirt Douglas Wilson (Deb) of Morganton, North Carolina; siblings, Charles Wilson, Stanley Wilson, and Brenda Anne Autrey (Jimmy) of Burnsville, North Carolina, and Phillip Wilson (Carolyn Sue) of Burlington, Kansas; grandchildren, Logan Douglas Wilson (Sarah) of Candler, North Carolina, Kendra LeAnn Wilson (DuJuan Moore) of Connelly Springs, North Carolina; great-grandson, Malakai Marquise Moore of Connelly Springs, North Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Red at a later date. In lieu of flowers or food, please make donations to the Yancey County Humane Society or Yancey County Hospice. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Red’s cousin, Dennis and Linda Wilson, to Aunt Wanda Proffitt and to cousin, Amy Troutman.
