William Michael “Mike” Hensley, 68, of Sylva, North Carolina, died Thursday, January 17th, 2019, at Harris Regional Hospital. Mike was born September 7th, 1950, in Dillsboro, North Carolina to the late Helen Elizabeth Carnes Hensley and Julius Burton Hensley. He was married to Helen Joyce Jones Hensley, his wife of 48 years.

Mike worked as maintenance planner at Jackson Paper Manufacturing, with whom he retired. United States Navy Veteran. He enjoyed woodworking, gem hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Mike is survived by his wife, Helen Joyce Jones Hensley of Sylva, North Carolina; son, Christopher Michael Hensley of Sistersville, West Virginia; daughter, Candace Dawn Hensley Threadgill (Bobby) of Whittier, North Carolina; grandkids, Aaron Hensley, Brooklyn Hensley, Heath Hensley, Gracie Threadgill, and Gabriel Threadgill; siblings, Larry Hensley (Glenda), Cance Hensley (Margaret), Shirley Crisp (Harold), Jolene Fraley (Larry), Madge Douthit (Ronnie), Sam McFee (Robert); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service will be held for Mike at a later date. In lieu of flowers or food, please make donations to Long Branch Baptist Church PO Box 162 Dillsboro, NC 28725.
