Obituary of Frederick James Brickner Frederick James Brickner, 71, of Galway, NY passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019. Born in Amsterdam NY on March 8, 1948 he was the son of the late Edward Leo and Jean Rae (Howitt) Brickner. Frederick was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, and went on to graduate from SUNY Potsdam with a degree in Education.

He received several Masters Degrees from SUNY Albany and a Degree in Administration from Massachusetts College in North Adams, MA. Frederick served his country, enlisting as a member of the Army National Guard of NY and the Army Reserves. Frederick taught in the Galway Central School District for 25 years.

Frederick was a gourmet cook and loved to share his meals with family and friends, he was a gentle man who enjoyed spending time with the growing family. His loyal canine Princess Leia was always by his side. Frederick is survived by his wife, Pauline Teresa Rosmarino, they were united in marriage on August 16, 1969.

He is also survived by his two sons; Commander Scott (Lindy) Brickner of Newport, RI presently serving on the USS Iwo Jima, and Shawn A. (Heather) Brickner of Brookline, NH daughters; Renée J. (Jesse) Mendenhall of Brookline, NH, and Kristie L. (Erik) Brown of Brookline, NH. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Louis and Olivia Brickner, Zachary, Marisa and Sophia Brickner, Piper and Reese Mendenhall, Lulea, Gwen, and Juniper Brown. Frederick leaves behind a sister Agnes (Clifford) Hedden, a brother Edward Brickner of Scotia, and two sisters-in-law Josephine Rosmarino of Johnstown and Barbara Rosmarino of Gloversville.

Many nieces and nephews also survive. Frederick was predeceased by his parents, brother-in-law Louis Rosmarino, and his niece DeAnn Rosmarino. In Lieu of flowers memorial gifts in Fred’s name may be made to Galway Public Library Building Fund 5264 Sacandaga Rd, Galway, NY 12074 or an organization of your choice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday March, 16 at 11AM at St Mary’s Catholic Church 2113 East St, Galway, NY 12074. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, March, 15 from 3PM to 5PM at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
