Obituary for Fredrick K Fixsen Fred K. Fixsen of Ft. Lauderdale Florida formerly of Midland Beach passed away at Broward Health Care Center on Tuesday morning May 29th after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Born in Brooklyn Fred lived most of his life in Midland Beach.

A graduate of McKee High School Fred was a proud veteran of the US Army serving in the Military Police stationed in Germany. Fred began working at the Statten when they first opened as a waiter and he spent his entire career there working his way up to Maitre D’. Fred retired from the Statten in 2012 when his home in Midland Beach was destroyed by Sandy and he then relocated to Ft.

Lauderdale. He was an Honorary member of the North Shore Rotary Club. Fred is survived by his sister Emily Yater, his brother John, his sister in law Kathryn, his long time partner Michael Hirshberg , his numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday June 6th from 10:00AM until 11:30 AM at the Barabara Falowski Funeral Home 300 SW 6th Street Ft. Lauderdale. Entombment will follow at Lauderdale Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals.
