Obituary for G. Douglas Price Glenn Douglas “Poppy” Price, age 77, of Rogersville, entered the gates of heaven where he was welcomed by his wife and daughter on Saturday afternoon at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents I.D. and Katherine Price; the love of his life and wife, Phyllis Price; and his daughter Gina Price Edwards. Doug is survived by his granddaughter, Hannah Craig, son-in-law, Rick Edwards, special grandson Brodie Adams, several cousins, and a host of family and friends.

Doug will forever be remembered for his laughter, his love for his family, his hometown and could often be found on the golf course. Doug served as Hawkins County Executive for 12 years and is a past Chairman of the First Tennessee Development District. He also served on the Board of Directors of Citizens Bank of East Tennessee.

Doug is a longstanding and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Rogersville The family would like to express a special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Holston Valley Medical Center, Intensive Care Unit for their compassionate and heartwarming care for Doug. The family will receive family and friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Rogersville. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. with Rev.

Andy Willis and Rev. Sheldon Livesay officiating. Burial will follow in McKinney Cemetery.

Family and friends that wish to gather are welcome at the home of Larry and Pam Elkins, 518 McKinney Ave, Rogersville, TN. Pallbearers will include Rick Edwards, Brodie Adams, Chris Craig, Larry Elkins, Matthew Elkins, John Elkins and Tyler Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will include Jerry Byrd, Jim Sells, Jim Phillips, Bill Phillips, Charlie Freeman, Rufus Hayes, Clinton Hagood, Bill Jenkins, Danny Cockreham, David Britton, Jim Leroy and Garnie Thacker.
