Obituary for Gary Edward Lewis Gary “Ed” Edward Lewis, 82, of Jackson, Missouri died Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Saint Louis, Missouri from complications of pneumonia. He was born August 14, 1935 in Jackson, Missouri to Wilson H. and Daisy Godwin Lewis. He and Fern E. Kaiser were married November 25, 1953 at Jackson, Missouri.

She preceded him in death February 8, 2006. He and Fern J. Schuschke were married March 3, 2007. She preceded him in death December 18, 2015.

He served nine years in the National Guard. He received a degree from Southeast Missouri State University. He taught Auto Mechanics at Jackson High School for over 30 years where he also coached boys JV basketball and girls softball.

He was a member of the Jackson City Park Board and was the commissioner of the Jackson Boys Little League. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. Survivors include his two sons, Scott (Connie) Lewis of Chesterfield, Missouri and Michael (Stephanie) Lewis of Saint Charles, Missouri; one brother, Jim Lewis of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Erin Lewis, Kate Lewis, Wyatt Lewis, Ethan Lewis, Peyton Lewis, Alexander David and Jamie David.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Fern E. Kaiser Lewis; second wife, Fern J. Schuschke Lewis; one brother, Tom Long; and an infant sister, Sarah. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Ford & Sons Jackson Funeral Home in Jackson, Missouri. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Friday, April 20, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson with the Rev.

Joshua Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson. Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Association.
