Obituary for Gearherd (Gary) Robert Benedict Gearherd (Gary) Robert Benedict of Kingston was born in Harrisburg, IL on February 4, 1955. He peacefully left this earth on December 27,2018 surrounded by family and friends. He was an honest man who never met a stranger.

Gary always stepped in to help anyone who needed it. He lived and loved life to the fullest with a smile and positive attitude. There were few things that he couldn’t do and if he wasn’t sure how to do it, he found out.

Gary honorably served in the USMC and the Tennessee National Guard. He married the love of his life Pamela Criswell on June 11, 1982 in Raton, TX. Gary was a gifted RN who took great enjoyment in teaching and helping his fellow RN’s He was compassionate and always calm in a crisis.

Gary was a true patient advocate. Because of his talents and dedication to both his patients and coworkers, his gift for nursing has touched many lives beyond those he cared for. Gary will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert and mother Kathryn. He is survived by his wife Pam, son Robert (Debbie) Benedict, daughter Katie, granddaughter Reagan, grandson Grayson and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday January 2,2019 at the Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Kyker Chapel.
