Obituary for Gene Ray Robertson FORT WORTH – Gene Ray Robertson, 88, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went to be with the Lord peacefully at home on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Gene was born Nov. 16, 1929, in Archer City to John and Cora Robertson.

He grew up in Olney and moved to Gainesville as a teenager where he graduated from Gainesville High School in 1947. Gene graduated from University of Texas at Austin in May of 1952 with a B.S. in Architectural Engineering. Gene became a Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas in 1958.

After graduation, he worked one year for the Army Corps of Engineers before working for 35 years with the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, retiring in 1989. During retirement, he worked part time delivering prescription drugs for Perrone Pharmacy.

Gene married Marjorie Nell Tarrant on Jan. 27, 1951, in Abilene. They moved to Fort Worth in 1953 where they resided for the rest of their lives.

They were married for 64 years until her death in 2015. Gene was an active member and deacon of Ridglea West Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a current active member and deacon of Ridglea Baptist Church for over 13 years. Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Sharon; grandson, Carter; parents, John and Cora; sister, Ann; and brother, John.

Survivors: Sons, Michael and wife, Cynthia and David and wife, Jennifer; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary and Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
