Obituary of Gene Hurley Obituary Gene Alan Hurley, 54, of Idabel, a former resident of the Tom Community, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Alan was born August 28, 1963 in Dallas, TX. He attended Tom Elementary School in Tom, OK and High School at Haworth, OK.

He was a member of Tom Baptist Church. Alan enjoyed hobbies such as hunting, fishing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for animals, especially his beloved dogs, Bailey and Big Boy.

They were a big part of his life. He was a friend to everyone and always lended a helping hand to anyone he could. He was a building contractor and master carpenter for many years.

Alan enjoyed the simple things in life. He was loved by many, and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Alan was a devoted son and grandson.

He spent many years helping his parents and grandparents on their farm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Jean Nelson Weathers and Ronald Hurley; his grandparents, Delbert and Mildred Nelson. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Nicole Hurley Sprabary and husband, Garrett of Peeltown, TX; one son, Delbert Hurley of Avery, TX; eight beautiful grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Venessa and Howard Tinsley of Mountain Grove, MO, and Leanne and George Tucker of Idabel, OK; and one brother, Jamie Hurley of the Tom Community, OK.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Tom Baptist Church with Bro. Miles Wesner officiating.

Interment will follow at the Tom Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tom Baptist Church, Tom, OK. Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.
