Born September 15, 1939 to Dewey Edward Pettit and Ceccil (Shirley) Pettit in Pontotoc, Geneva was 79. A retired lead seamstress, Geneva enjoyed quilting where she kept her creative hands busy.

Additionally, she enjoyed gardening and flowers, along with shopping. Something always important to Geneva was her family and friends, all of whom will dearly miss her but take comfort in knowing she has been called home for eternal rest. Geneva leaves behind Sons Randy Boyd Abbott and Billy Wayne Starnes of Bruce; Daughters Kathy Fortner of Myrtle, MS, Susan (Frank) Branscum of Pelham, AL, Deborah Abbott of Vernon, AL, and Elizabeth Butler of Hamilton, AL; Sister Betty (Ronnie) Moore of Pontotoc; Brother Billy Ray Pettit of Bruce, Grandchildren Candice (Rush) Elliot, Amber (Adam) Abbott, Melanie (Ben) Abbott, Melissa Roberts, Jason Voyles, Brandi Holloway, Haley (Logan) Omary, Skyler Butler, Faith Grant, and Wyatt Abbott; and Great Grandchildren Liam Elliot, Colin Elliot, Lacey Elliot, Dante Martin, Nikki Martin, Devin Martin, Dustin Martin, Charleigh Rose Voyles, Hannah McCool, Tommy McCool, Kennedy Voyles, Hayden Holloway, Payton Claire Holloway, Ryleigh Omary, Bentlee Grant, and Emmalee Grant.

There will be a visitation with the family on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce starting at 12:00 pm. Following the conclusion of visitation, a funeral service celebrating Geneva’s life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home, starting at 2:00 pm. Brother Adam Smith will lead services.

Geneva will be laid to eternal rest at Memory Memorial Garden Cemetery, located adjacent to the funeral home. Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; Sister Jeanette Swanson; and Brother James Pettit. Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce is honored to be entrusted by the family in helping to make arrangements honoring Geneva’s life.
