WYAR- George Anthony “Red,” 98, Johnstown. Passed away on May 19, 2019 in Johnstown. Born June 25, 1920 in Johnstown.

Son of William H. and Mary (McDermott) Wyar. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Catherine (Podrasky) infant daughter Sandra, and sisters Eileen Yarina and Rosemary Partsch. Survived by children Greg of Johnstown, Karen Lee and her life companion Terry Jones of Newport, NC, Dennis of Ebensburg and Patricia married to Wayne Gutshall of Windber; grandchildren Travis and Stacy Gutshall, Debra Sue Lasure and Amber Wyar; 5 great granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and American Legion. Also, he was in the Air Force Reserves. U.S. WWII Army Veteran where he was a participant in the Normandy D-Day Invasion.

“Red” received several medals including 5 Bronze Stars. He was formerly employed at Rocky Mount Air Service and Bethlehem Steel. He formerly worked as an EMT and a Pilot Crop Duster.

Enjoyed playing his guitar as many venues. Friends will be received from 4:00 until time of funeral service at 6:00 Tuesday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Father Walter Moll.

Interment at Grandview Cemetery. www.
