George Barnwell Mincey, Sr., 75, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 24, 2018. George was born September 15, 1942 in Johnston County to the late Milton Barnwell Mincey and Lila Ruth Alford Mincey. He is survived by a son, Barney Mincey and his wife, Becky of Mt.

Airy; a daughter, Judy Mincey Perry and husband, Paul of Zebulon; 3 Grandsons: Barney and Zachary Mincey both of Zebulon, Joshua Mincey of Glendale, AZ; 2 great-grandsons: Andrew and Billy Mincey; brother, Connie Mack Mincey of Zebulon; sisters: Alma Horton of Wendell and Rhonda Carlyle and husband, Donald of Zebulon. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Massey Mincey; sister, Janette Mincey; brother, John Mincey and great-granddaughter, AuBree Mincey. George was a shoe cobbler for over 53 years, carrying on the craft from his father and passing it on to his son and grandson.

His great-grandson even shines shoes to help out, making it 5 generations strong. His craftsmanship was well known and customers came from several different counties to have their shoes, saddles and other items repaired. He will be greatly missed in his community.

Funeral service 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Pilot Baptist Church Family Life Center, 65 Stallings Road, Zebulon, NC 27597. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon. The family will receive relatives and friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service, 944 Old Knight Rd.

, Knightdale, 27545 and other times at the home of his sister, Rhonda Carlyle, 456 Carlyle Road, Zebulon, NC 27597. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hock Family Pavilion, 4023 N Roxboro St, Durham, NC 27704.
