Bill Clements of Spring Lake, Michigan passed away peacefully at Harbor Hospice in Muskegon on May 11 at age 93. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy Jean (Boor) Clements, his son, George William (Bill) Clements Jr., his brother, Paul (Jack) Clements and daughter- in- law, Judith Clements. Bill is survived by his daughter, Connie (John) Flynn of Grand Rapids and his son, Jon Clements who currently resides in South Korea.

Dorothy and Bill had three grandchildren: R. Josh Flynn, Diana Flynn Davidson (Rob) and Andrew Graff (Sarah) and 5 great grandchildren: Mia, Sam, and Ava Davidson, Abbie and Sylvie Graff. Bill is also survived by his sister, Ruth Lois DiDomenico and his brother, Richard (Dick) Clements (Karen). Bill and Dorothy met in high school and began their married life in San Diego with the Navy during WWII.

After the Big War, they moved to Ann Arbor to continue his education at the University of Michigan where Bill earned a degree in Civil Engineering. They moved to Grand Rapids where he started his business, G W Clements Co., and worked for 40 years as a manufacturers’ representative. Owning his own business allowed him the flexibility to snow ski all over the world, play golf in the summer, travel extensively, enjoy playing bridge and gin rummy at the Spring Lake Country Club, go to University of Michigan football games, and just have a good time.

He was a lifelong lover of big band music. He enjoyed grilling on the back deck, playing “String of Pearls” on his clarinet and dipping the reed in his scotch. Bill had a great sense of humor and laughed easily.

He will be missed. Our deepest thanks to the people at Harbor Hospice and their many kindnesses. The family will celebrate a life well lived in a private gathering.
