George G. Loomis, 70 of Oden, died October 13, 2018 at his home. George was born on September 11, 1948 in Charlevoix, MI, the son of Clare and Mary Ann (Glados) Loomis and graduated from Charlevoix High School with the Class of 1967. He entered the US Navy and proudly served his country for over 25 years, retiring in 1994 at the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Upon his retirement, he went to work at Up North Industries until their closure. He then went to work at KSS Enterprises where he served various roles over the last 12 years, doing everything from shipping and receiving to deliveries. George loved the outdoors.

You could frequently find him enjoying hunting, bike riding, kayaking, and hockey. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and traveled as often as he could to Oregon to see them. George is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Kline; daughter-in-law, Heather Loomis; 4 grandchildren, Mariah Loomis, Michael Loomis, Chace Alvernaz, and Landyn Philpott; and by a great granddaughter, Brylee Philpott.

He was preceded in death by his father and by his one and only son, Nathan Michael Loomis on September 14, 1996. Services will be held at George’s house, date and time to be announced by the family.
