George Galen Pond August 10, 1936 – February 7, 2019 George Galen Pond was born August 10, 1936 in Los Angeles CA to George E. Pond and Veryl Pond (Marshall). George is the older of two children. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his two children, George Chris Pond of Millington TN, Carmen Pond of Pagosa Springs, CO, and his sister Mary Phillips (Pond) of Shelton WA, 4 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He is a veteran, having served for 2 years in the Army. George worked for the United States Forest Service for 14 years in Southern CA.

In 1968 he began working for the California Dept. of Forestry (CAL FIRE). He served in Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties.

In 2003 he retired as a Battalion Chief. After retirement he worked at various part time jobs all of which kept him close to the fire service. George loved the fire service, especially his friends and co-workers.

He volunteered at the CAL Fire History Museum in San Bernardino for several years, and never missed an opportunity to visit fire stations, attend fire apparatus shows/conventions, or anything related to the fire service. He will be missed by friends and family. Donations may be made to the CAL FIRE HISTORY MUSEUM in lieu of flowers.
