George Hopson III, age 66, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. George was born May 18, 1952 in Providence, Kentucky to the late George and Dorothy Hopson. He attended Providence High School, served 3 years in the United States Army, and loved fishing, gardening and watching Kentucky Basketball.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy Bass, Yvonne Reynolds, and Maevella Hopson; two nephews: Elder Tony Hutcherson and Wayne Reynolds; one niece, Kimberly Hopson; and one great nephew, Mitchell McElroy Jr. George leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 31 years, Iris LaVerne Hopson of Providence KY; one daughter, Ruthie Hopson of Madisonville KY; two sons: George (Angie) Hopson IV of Evansville IN and Antonio Hopson of Providence KY; one sister, Brenda (Ali) Drake; two brothers: David (Denise) Hopson and Minister Keith (JoAnn) Hopson; eight grand-daughters: Daja, Tatyana, Camille, Camari, Alexiss, Kylah, Angelina, and Jalia; seven grandsons: Damen, Darius, Haviye, Elijah, Taviah, A’Maurion and Javen; eleven great-grandchildren; one aunt, Margaret Hawkins; one great aunt, Ruby Leavell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services are Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 12:00pm at Marable Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Providence Ky. Same day visitation is from 10:00am until service time at the church.

Burial at Williams Cemetery in Providence. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason & Sons Funeral Home. Condolences may be left at www.
