Obituary for George Engesser Sr. George Engesser, Sr., 93, of Greene Twp. , passed away peacefully on Sunday June 10, 2018. He was born in Erie on January 22, 1925 a son of the late Pete and Gertrude Schurz Engesser.

He worked as an operating engineer with Local #66 District 5 and farmed for many years. He was an active member, and former chief, of the Belle Valley Fire Department and a former director of the Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society. He enjoyed tractors, auctions, and hunting.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Kinnear Engesser; one daughter, Shirley Stiner; and one grandson, Robert George Engesser. Survivors include two sons, George Engesser, Jr. and his wife, Diana, and Thomas Engesser and his wife, Evelyn; three daughters, Nancy Erbin and her husband, Donald, Mary Pizzuto, and Betsy Moffett and her husband, Brian; one sister, Louise Anderson; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd.

, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to services there on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.. Burial will follow in Wales Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Kuhl Hose Co., 3131 Rescue Lane, Erie, 16510 or Belle Valley Fire Department, 1514 Norcross Road, Erie, 16510.
