Georgina Bernice Alquist August 20, 1924 – January 20, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Our loving and generous Mother, Grandmother and Friend died at 94 years old. She is survived by her children, Dennis, Margaret and Monica (Gary); Forever “Tutu” to grandchildren, Rachel, Oliver, Aaron, Erika, Lara and Kathleen; and 7 great-grandchildren; her “son” Jan (Susie) and twin sons; brother Terry (Toni); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by Ty, her loving husband of 55 years; son, Peter; daughter-in-law Elaine; and her sister, Marge.

She was a Canadian farm girl who grew up with a huge extended family, playing shortstop, dancing and perfecting her cooking. She shared stories of the Depression, WWII, and the harsh winters of Saskatchewan. She went to St. Henry’s High School in Melville, SK, and then left to study Laboratory and Pathology Medicine at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina then Vancouver then Seattle graduating in Medical Technology from Seattle University in 1949.

She met Ty dancing at a big-band dance hall, Trianon Ballroom. Georgie worked 47 years as a Medical Technologist, retiring at 72 years old. She was the backbone of her family and their business.

She loved world travel with Business and Professional Women (BPW) and her family. She was a gourmet cook, making her home the center for her family and friends. She lived her faith by her acts of charity, inspiring her children.

Georgie was known for her unconditional love, welcoming heart and warm smile. We will miss her greatly. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 9:00am at Our Lady of Fatima Church 3218 W Barrett St, Seattle, 98199 A reception will follow.

To honor Georgina, remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice, or St. Vincent de Paul.
