Gerald L. “Jerry” Besett, age 81, of Bellefontaine, Ohio passed away at 8:37 A.M. Sunday, January 6, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Minonk, Illinois June 4, 1937, to the late Orville and Selma (Hopper) Besett. On December 1, 1960, he married Bonnie Fisher, and she preceded him in death January 28, 1991.

His siblings, Carol and Duane also preceded Jerry in death. Jerry is survived by his children, Gerri B. (David) Welch of West Mansfield, Ohio, Nikki L. (Jon) Yoesting of Bellefontaine, Lorri M. Besett of Columbus, Ohio, Paul (Christie) Besett of Finksburg, Maryland, and April D. (James) Cermak of Columbus; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a nephew, Lee Besett. Jerry was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp.

He worked as a mechanic and a safety officer for Thomas & Marker Construction. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine and enjoyed drinking coffee with his old work friends at “Thursday Morning Breakfast Club”. Jerry was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed watching old westerns, and a master mechanic – he could fix anything.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4 to 6 P.M. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine. Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate the funeral service at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine.

The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine. KVH Donations may be made to: Calvary Baptist Church 1140 Rush Ave.
