Geraldine A. Weisensel Vande Zande, age 79, passed away at Sienna Crest in Fort Atkinson on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. She was born in Columbus, WI on July 6, 1939, the first child of Frederick and Lucille (Duscheck) Weisensel. On July 27, 1968, she married Kenneth Eldon Vande Zande of Waupun in Fort Atkinson.

She and her husband moved to Rochester, NY where she was a nursing professor and taught at Nazareth College in Rochester, and then was a nurse practitioner at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Geraldine and her husband enjoyed traveling and European river cruises, as well as attending symphonies and plays, reading and flower gardening. He passed away June 12, 2017.

She then moved back to WI. She is survived by her siblings – Marlene (Paul) Buechel, Rochester NY; Rev. Cyril Weisensel, Madison; Jeanette (Gilbert) Benoy, Fort Atkinson; Hubert (Sue) Weisensel, Racine; Dolores (Harvey) Taylor, Fort Atkinson; Wil (Susan) Weisensel, Jefferson; Mary (Donald) Sheldon, Beaufort NC; Mark (Rose) Weisensel, Oshkosh; Gerard (Laur) Weisensel, Savage, MN; and Bruce (Kathy) Weisensel, Jackson, MI; as well as brother-in-law Stewart Vande Zande of Ashland, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband and her parents, and one nephew. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CATHOLIC CHURCH in Jefferson on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 12:00 pm.

Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery-Ascension Garden in Rochester NY. Ryan Funeral Home in Madison and DiPonzio Funeral Home in Rochester, NY are assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sienna Crest and the staff at Rainbow Hospice, Especially Amanda and Jane, for their compassion and care for our sister.
