Geraldine “Gerie” Roberts, age 84, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018. She was born on September 1, 1933 in St. Petersburg, FL to Samuel L. Roberts and Eddie Lee Marguerite Roberts. She graduated Andrew Jackson High School and attended Florida State University when it was still an all girls school.

Later, she began a career with Bellsouth and retired after more than 29 years of service. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Bellsouth Pioneer Group chapter. Gerie was also a former member of St. John’s Park Baptist Church and later of Eagle’s View Baptist Church, when it was a church prior to becoming a school.

She also completed Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) courses at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Gerie was also a member of The Homemakers Club where she enjoyed time trading patterns and sewing her children’s clothes. Ms. Roberts was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Eddie Roberts; her step-mother, Marie Roberts; a sister, Rita Howell; and a great-grandson, Oliver Carter.

She is survived by her 3 children: Felicia Carter, Darla Dame (Kim), and Derek Dame (Rebecca); a sister, Sandra French; 7 grandchildren: Neil Carter, Nic Dame, Jesse Hanner, Van Dame, Matt Carter, Christopher Carter, and Brittany Carter; and 2 great-grandchildren, Maddie and Adam Carter. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM officiated by Dr. Tim McDaniel.

Interment will follow in the Fountain of Life Garden in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery.
