Obituary for Gerardo “Lalo” Escalera Cervantes Dateline: Garden City Gerardo “Lalo” Escalera Cervantes, 68, died Wednesday July 11, 2018 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born February 21, 1950 in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico the son of Aristeo Escalera & Norberta Cervantes. He moved to California in 1972 from Guadalajara Mexico and lived there for 46 years.

He married Margarita Nunez Rodriguez on May 10, 1980. They later divorced. He later married Maria de Jesus Morales Amaya.

She survives. He had worked at Atlas Galvanizing in Los Angeles for over 20 years. After retiring he moved to Garden City to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Margarita Medina-Escalera and Lupita Escalera Nunez, both of Garden City; Siblings, Manuel Escalera of Mexico City, Francisco Escalera of Bell Gardens, California, Javier Escalera of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico & Socorro Levingston of Riverside, California; & grandchildren, Robert Rodriguez-Escalera, Deborah Medina-Escalera, Benjamin Medina-Escalera, & Delilah Medina-Escalera. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Antonio Escalera, Jose Escalera, Jesus Escalera, Lorenzo Escalera, & Salvador Escalera. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
