Funeral service for Gerldene Asherbranner Hughes, 77, will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 12:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Raburn and Bro. Calab Raburn officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home. Mrs. Hughes died on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Summerford Nursing Home.

She was born February 1, 1941, in Lawrence County to Louis L. Asherbranner and Irene Cutchens Asherbranner . She was a homemaker who loved decorating cakes and making flower arrangements. She was a talented artist, especially with oil paints, and loved bird watching.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, and friend and was a member of Andrews Chapel Baptist Church for the past 40 years. Preceding her in death were her son: John Michael Hughes, her parents and two sisters: Joyce Dale Asherbranner and Thelma Carr. Survivors include : her Husband, Farris Hughes Two Brothers: Leon Asherbranner (Ellen) and Willard Asherbranner (Clara) Three Sisters: Shelby Wittenberg (Terry), Betty Fairbanks and Doris Crowe (David) A daughter-in-law: Diane Bohanon a number of Nieces and Nephews Pallbearers will be Junior Hughes, Jeff Wilson, Phillip Wilson, Rex Asherbranner, Roger Asherbranner, and Jonathan Crowe.
