Obituary for Giovanni Rossi Giovanni Rossi of Huguenot, passed away on November 10, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Italy, he was a proud Veteran of the Italian Army, having served during World War II. He later immigrated to the United States where he married Anna.

Giovanni was an electrician for the New York City Transit Authority for 20 years and retired in 1990. He enjoyed spending time in his garden, which was his favorite thing to do. He grew all kinds of vegetables and was happy when someone came to visit because he would invite them to see the garden and share a bottle of wine and something to eat.

He also liked to make his own tomato sauce, but what he most enjoyed was spending time with his beloved family. He was loved by all and will truly be missed. In addition to his wife Anna of 49 years, Giovanni is survived by his son Patrick and his daughter Carmela Vizzielli.

He was a loving grandfather to Marianna, Frank, John Patrick and Julia. He was a dear father-in-law of Nesa Rossi and Nick Vizzielli. He is also survived by his brother Angelo and sister Amelia.

The family will receive friends and family from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:15 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
