Obituary for Glenn William Myers Glenn William Myers, 86, of Newburg, went home to be with his Lord on the morning of Monday, November 26, 2018. He was born on November 1, 1932, in Hopewell Twp. , Newburg, a son of the late Samuel C. and Mary Ile Myers.

Glenn will be greatly missed and remembered for his love of family, friends, and neighbors. He always enjoyed giving a helping hand to anyone and enjoyed being a public servant. Glenn loved being a farmer and milked his first cow when he was six years old.

He also worked at the former M. Arthur Diehl feed store. He was a 1951 graduate of Shippensburg High School and played the clarinet in the school band, as well as the state FFA band. Glenn also won the state FFA tractor driving award in 1950.

After graduating, Glenn served in the U.S. Army for two years, including a tour in Korea. Glenn was a lifelong member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and served as a financial secretary, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, and several other committees in his younger years. He was a charter member of the Newburg-Hopewell fire police, served for fifty years as a fire policeman, and was the fire police secretary for many years.

Glenn was also a life member of the Cumberland County Fire police association and served as a Hopewell Township auditor for thirty six years. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah J. and husband Daniel Timmons of Shippensburg; a daughter-in-law, Loni Myers Dunlap; two granddaughters, Tara D. and husband Brandon Ramsey and Shaina R. and husband Derek Witter; two great grandchildren, Collin M. Ramsey and Makenzie Marie Witter. Glenn was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bernice “Marie” Myers, whom he married on January 30, 1954; his son, William E. Myers; and a brother, Jay H. Myers.

A service to celebrate Glenn’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the Otterbein United Methodist Church. Pastor Bruce Levy and Pastor John Ile, Jr., will officiate. Interment, with military honors conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

Viewing will be Thursday evening at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. The family is grateful for the loving care given to Glenn by the Orrstown Personal Care Home and Residential Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Orrstown Personal Care Home, Otterbein U.M.C., or Newburg Hopewell Fire Police.
