Gloria Ann (Saiz) Barela September 20, 1945 – January 19, 2019 Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Gloria Ann (Saiz) Barela, 73, a lifelong resident of Alamogordo passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. She was born on September 20, 1945 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Jose Saiz and Helen (Ulbarri) Saiz. She spent her life working in medical field as a Certified Medical Assistant.

Having worked at several facilities such as Gerald Champion Hospital, Betty Dare Good Samaritan, Casa Arena Blanca and with Home Health Care. She was married to Severo (Pitty) M. Barela for 27 years before his passing in 1999. She was proceeded in death by both parents, 4 brothers: Jose Jr., Ernesto, Antonio and George Saiz; a sister, Martha Saiz; also, her beloved Grandmother who raised her as her own, Cleotilde Jaramillo.

She is survived by two children, Carolyn Barela, spouse Ralph Roman and Ignacio Barela, spouse, Shivonne Balderas all of Alamogordo. Gloria was raised with her cousins as her brothers and sisters: Lorraine Sena of Albuquerque, NM, Elaine Smith of Las Vegas, NM, Junior and spouse, Lorraine of Las Vegas, NM, and Larry and spouse, Josephine of Socorro, NM: one sister in law, Cecilia Barela of San Jose, CA. She had 7 grandchildren: Jesus Roman, Milagro Barela, Rachelle Roman, Ignacio Barela, Jr., Cruzito Barela, and Marcelino Barela; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Vigil Services for Gloria Ann (Saiz) Barela will be at the Immaculate Conception Church on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am, Mass at 11:00 am and burial will follow at ICC Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow at ICC Parish Hall.

Pallbearers are Jesus Roman, Ignacio Barela, Jr. and Cruzito Barela. The Barela family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
