Obituary of Gordon Robinson Gordon Edward Robinson, 88, of State College, died Friday, August 31, 2018, at Mount Nittany Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born January 19, 1930, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas and Marie Bauer Robinson. In 1964, he married Kay Rarig at the Eisenhower Chapel at Penn State University and they lived together in State College for 54 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Allison Hasenkamp and her husband, Peter, of San Mateo, CA, and son, Michael Robinson of New Market, MD; two grandchildren, Evan and Tyce Hasenkamp, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings Thomas, Dorothy and John. Gordon received a NROTC scholarship to attend Penn State University, where he completed his bachelor’s degree in 1952.

He served in the US Navy for three years during the Korean War. Gordon later received his master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering and doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University, after which, he joined the Nuclear Engineering Department faculty until his retirement as a professor emeritus. Gordon will be remembered for his love of teaching and Penn State football.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Gordon Edward Robinson. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
