Wood Ave. , Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Good Life Senior Living in Carlsbad. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Martin Cordero officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. on Wednesday at West Funeral Home, followed by a Rosary service at 7 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church. Grace N. Escobedo was born to Eddy and Katie (Lovis) Naranjo on May 5, 1939 in Carlsbad, NM.

She was raised in Carlsbad and graduated from CHS with the Class of 1958 before attending NMSU-Carlsbad where she earned an Associate of Arts degree. Robert R. and Grace (Naranjo) Escobedo were married on November 29, 1958. She was employed by NMSU-C for 25 years before retiring.

Grace enjoyed spending time with her family and supporting them in all their activities. She was also an active member of San Jose Catholic Church and supported activities such as The Catholic Daughters, Marriage Encounter, The Devine Mercy, Adoration and much more. She enjoyed line dancing and was a member of the local Red Hats community.

Grace made such an impact in the community and was the matriarch of her family, she was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents. Grace is survived by her husband Robert, children: Louie and wife Leslie Escobedo of Albuquerque, NM, Clarissa Hernandez and fiancé Archie Bustos of Santa Fe, NM, Anthony Escobedo and fiancé Ruth Allbritton of Albuquerque, NM, Linda Flores and husband Ramiro Flores of California, MD, Ivan Escobedo and wife Heather Escobedo of Phoenix, AZ; sister Geraldine Walker and husband James Walker of La Palma, CA; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Chris Escobedo, Erroll Hernandez, Robert Hernandez, Tyson Escobedo, Josh Escobedo, Hunter Escobedo, Ramiro Flores and Antonio Flores. Condolences may be expressed by going to the AREA BELOW labeled SIGN GUEST BOOK and entering your message.
