Obituary for Gregory L. Burgess Gregory L. Burgess 69, of Alabama, departed his life here on earth February 12, 2019 at Bronson Methodist Hospital Kalamazoo. Gregory was born November 22, 1949 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the Union of the late Arthur William and Evelyn Eugene (Stubbs) Burgess. He attended Second Missionary Baptist Church during his childhood.

Greg graduated from Battle Creek Central; shortly after graduation he was hired into General Motors: where he would retire as a skill tradesman Tinsmith; also enlisting into the Military (US Army). Gregory severed in the Vietnam War. He learned many skills with Military Auxiliary Radio System (MARS Station) being his favorite.

Gregory was a Specialist 5 in the US Armed Forces. He was blessed to become a military parachute rigger, as well as attending the Army Airborne Jump School through the US Armed Forces. Gregory was a 5th degree Black belt in Martial Arts.

Gregory enjoyed photography, travelling, roller coasters, hunting, working on cars, remolding houses, CB Radio, Fishing, Music, Bowling, Carpentry, and Martial Arts; he was surly a jack of all trades and in his mind a master of all. Gregory was a trill seeker, Gregory loved the kids and the kids loved him. Gregory settled in Alabama for many years; where he took ill; he relocated back to Michigan to be surrounded by his family during his battle with stage four lung cancers.

Gregory L. leaves behind to cherish his remembrance his two former wives Brenda and Denise. His only daughter Ms. Aretha Brown-Burgess and four grandchildren: Satin, Skylar, Franstasia & Francois II three greatgrandchildren: to carry on his legacy SkyLiah, Skyvon & Francois III four siblings: Deborah (Victor) Sallee, Lionel D. Burgess & Valerie (Archie) Murphy all of Battle Creek; a host of friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews & three step children LaTonya, Devon & Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grandmother Verna (Dear) Cantrell, niece Antoinette (Toni) Gibson, nephew Jerome Carson and his oldest sister Lynda M. Davis.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 22nd from 12:00-1:00 PM at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with the funeral to immediately follow at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
