Gustav’s Obituary Gustav H. “Gus” Merkle IV of Levittown died on Friday, February 1, 2019 after a brief illness surrounded by his family. He was 42. Gustav is survived by his parents, Elizabeth (Bricillo) and Gustav Merkle III of Levittown; his brother Kurt J. Merkle of Fairless Hills and his nephew, Maximus Merkle.

He is also survived by his grandfather, Gustav H. Merkle Jr., as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and his girlfriend, Denise Lambusta Parada. A graduate of Harry S. Truman High School, Gus attended Lebanon University where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in German language with a minor in Art. While at Lebanon Valley, he played varsity football and managed the men’s basketball team.

Gus also served on the Student Judicial Board. Gustav was a member of Boy Scout Troop 121 of St. Michael the Archangel Church, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Gus served as an interpreter at the National Boy Scout Jamboree held at Fort A.P. Hill in Virginia.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 16th at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown where the family will accept visitors from 9 until 10 a.m. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
