Jean’s Obituary Jean A. Schneider Luz died peacefully at home at the age of 83 on Feb. 9, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Jean was born in Hulmeville on July 16, 1935 and moved to Levittown upon her marriage to Leonard Luz on New Year’s Eve 1955.

There she raised her three children and developed lifelong friendships with a lovely community of neighbors. Jean devoted much of her life to caring for her disabled son, David. She was a dedicated mother and loving wife.

Later in life, Jean was able to work as a bookkeeper’s assistant at an antique company alongside her best friend. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing and stitchery projects, taking long walks with her neighborhood friends, and caring for her beloved backyard wildlife. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Leonard G. Luz as well as her parents, William and Frances Schneider and brother, William Schneider.

She is survived by her daughters Brenda Derr (husband Richard) and Andrea Delaney (husband Tom), as well as her son David. Jean had three grandchildren, Michael Derr, Kara Delaney Cooper (husband Lance) and Kelsey Delaney, all of whom will miss her dearly. She also leaves behind three of her siblings, Wayne (Inky) Schneider, Joan Turner, and Barbara Atkinson.

Family and friends are invited to attend her memorial visitation from 12 until 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 16th at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd. , Levittown where her memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
