Harold John Zienta, age 74, went to be with Jesus, his heavenly father on April 30, 2018 at the Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, OH. Harold was born January 17, 1944 in Fremont, OH to Louis and Florence (Schelb) Zienta. He was a 1962 graduate of St. Joseph Central Catholic High School in Fremont, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1966 from St. Joseph College in Rennselaer, IN.

Harold loved coaching. He was an assistant football coach and track coach, eventually becoming the head coach of the girl’s track team. He was named Coach of the Year during the 1985-1986 girls track season.

He was also the advisor for the Quiz Bowl Team at Fremont Ross for several years. After retiring from teaching, Harold worked at Atlas Industries in Gibsonburg and later mowed the fairways at Fremont Country Club and Sylvania Country Club. Harold stayed active in the sports community by umpiring girls softball for many years.

He was a member of Gesu Parish in Toledo where he sang in the choir. Harold is survived by his wife, Cornelia; daughters, Jennifer “J. Lynn” Owens (Dan), Kay Zienta-Smith (Kurt), and Ellen Zienta; grandchildren, Daniel “Owen” Smith, Lila Smith, and Emily Owens; sister, Audrey Kupka; brother, Harry Zienta (JoAnn); and sister-in-law, Barbara Zienta.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Gerald Zienta. Visitation will be Monday, May 7, 2018 from 3-7:00 pm at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.
