Obituary – Harold Rae Knowles, Jr. HAROLD RAE “HAL” KNOWLES JR. , 74, died February 1, 2019 in Memphis. He was born in McMinnville, Tennessee on August 1, 1944.

Hal was a professor of speech and theater at various universities, including University of Tennessee (Knoxville) and University of Oklahoma (Norman). Hal loved animals, watching NASCAR and his family. Hal, a loving father, son and brother, is survived by his son, Brad (Kristen Geyer) Knowles of Austin, TX; brother Kenneth Lee (Pam) Knowles of Murfreesboro; nephew Christopher Knowles of Murfreesboro; sister Patty (Michael) Moore of Winterset, IA; niece Austin Moore of Des Moines, IA; aunt Thelma Masey of McMinnville; niece Laura Wilson and family; nephew Tony (Christy) Wilson and family; nephew Roger Wilson and family; and Masey family cousins.
