Obituary for Harry Joseph Kienzle POTSDAM – Mr. Harry J. Kienzle, 85, of Hillcrest Drive, peacefully passed away at his home on May 1, 2018. Harry was born September 7, 1932 in Queens, the son of the late Harry and Fanny Kienzle. On May 8, 1955, he married Donna G. Nielsen in Owens, Iowa with Rev.

J.E. Jacobson, officiating. Donna predeceased him on January 8th. After Harry served his country in the US Air Force, he continued his education to receive his BA from the University of Omaha and his MA at the University of Connecticut.

While Harry was teaching at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, he achieved his Doctorate Degree. He later moved to Potsdam, where he continued teaching sociology at SUNY Potsdam. He had an appreciation for antiques, loved all animals, sunshine, and was an avid NY Mets fan.

Harry is survived his daughters, Julie Murray and her husband, Gary of Potsdam and Laura Whalen and her husband, Peter of Colton; his grandchildren, Robert Murray, Amanda McCord and her husband, Brian, Kara Murray, David Murray, Christopher Whalen, Matthew Whalen and his wife, Eva, and Liam Whalen; her great grandchildren, Logan McCord and Emmitt Murray; a sister, Florence A. Heess; and two nephews. Harry was laid to rest privately along with his wife, Donna in Bayside Cemetery, Potsdam.
