Obituary for Harry Lee Greer Harry Lee Greer (Greear), born March 15, 1938, to the late Meredith Ona Kerns Greear and Geter Roosevelt Greear of Norton Virginia, passed away as he was surrounded by his loving family. Harry graduated from Coeburn High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1956. He was Honorably Discharged in 1962.

He received a BS with Major in Industrial Management from ETSU and then worked in Safety and Fire Protection at Tennessee Eastman Division from 1968 to 1997 when he retired. While working at Eastman he further received an ICSI Intext Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and later Certified Safety Professional. Upon retiring from Eastman, Harry researched and published 3 family booklets entitled: The Greear/Greer Ancestry of Southwest VA; the Flannery/Kern Ancestry Booklet; and a childhood memoir: Down on the River, that recalled his growing up years in Ramsey, VA.

he also assisted his wife, Wanda, in the research for her Jenkins family booklet. He is preceded in death by his parents, Geter and Meredith Greear and siblings: Helen “Opal” Greear Blaloch, Ralph “Buck” Greear, James Issac Greer , Joseph “Joe” Edward Greear, Franklin “Frank” Delano Greear, and Jessie Hamilton Greear who passed away in infancy. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Wanda Agnes Jenkins Greer, one daughter, Stephanie Renee Tipton (Spouse Randy), and the following three sons: Kevin Lorne Greer, Brent Owen Greer (Spouse Alicia), and Jason Boyd Greer (Spouse Stacey).

He is also survived by the following: granddaughter, Agatha “Aggie” Rose Greer, the following grandsons: Preston William Greer, Ryne Erik Tipton, Brock Lloyd Greer, River Ashton Lee Greer and Devon Michael Cope. Harry is survived by the following siblings: Thomas “Tom” Jefferson Greear, Jacqueline “Jackie” Greear Wilson, and Peggy “Peg” Joyce Greear Crisp. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Monday, January 14, 2019, at East Tennessee Funeral Home located on Highway 75 across from Tri-City Airport.

A funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Dr. Jody Jenkins, Pastor of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, and Emeritus Pastor Gene Lasley. On the following day, January 15, 2019, at 11 AM the internment and Military Honors will take place by the American Legion Post 3/265. East Tennessee Funeral Home is honored to serve the Family of Harry Lee Greer.
