Obituary for Harry Richard “Rick” West Graveside services for Harry Richard “Rick” West, age 73, of Munford, will be Wednesday, June 13, 2018, 2:45 PM at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 AM till 12 PM at Miller Funeral Home. Mr. West passed away on Saturday at the VA Hospital in Birmingham after an extended illness.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Cotton West, son, Oakley West and a daughter, Dandi West Gentry (Mark). Rick was born in Nashville, TN and spent his younger years in Mobile, AL. He was educated in Anniston at Anniston High School.

At the age of 18 Rick joined the US Army where he served for 3 years. In 1972 he met his wife Dianne, they had 46 beautiful years together. Rick was known for his wood working skills for over 40 years and later his son Oakley were well known for the beautiful Mahogany Gliders that were sold and shipped in the United States and Foreign Countries.

During that time Rick and his family traveled together in the United States and was known at many of the finest craft shows. In the last 20 years he was known to many as the owner of Westwood Plantations Christmas Tree Farms in Munford, AL. The West family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Lyle Walton M.D. at the Palliative Care Unit at V.A. Hospital in Birmingham, for his compassion and care that he gave.
