Haskell Richard Brown, Jr., 73, of Ladson, SC, husband of Virginia Carolyn “Cricket” Ridgell Brown, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018. Funeral Services will be Tuesday morning, July 17, 2018 at 11 o’clock at Summerville Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 o’clock until the time of service at the church.

The family will reassemble for burial in Batesburg Cemetery, Howard Street and Hibiscus Drive, Batesburg, SC at 4 o’clock. Haskell was born December 15, 1944 in Dacusville, SC, a son of the late Haskell Richard Brown, Sr. and Olive Simmons Brown. He honorably served in the US Army and worked as a Pipe Fitter at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.

He enjoyed taking rides in his truck with his “Babydoll,” reading, and watching the birds in the back yard. Family and friends were always his first priority, and he doted constantly on his grandchildren and wife. In addition to his wife of 44 years, Virginia Brown of Ladson, Haskell leaves behind two daughters, Noelle Norfolk and her husband Christopher of Greer, and Elizabeth Brown-Rhodes and her husband Jesse of Mt.

Pleasant; sister, Ann Gossett of Dacusville; two grandchildren, Ava Norfolk and Amos Rhodes; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Haskell is predeceased by two sisters, Faye Duncan, and Ruth Trotter; and a brother, Lee Roy Brown.
