Helen Crawford Winegord , November 09, 1926 — April 24, 2018

EAST PALESTINE – Helen M. Winegord, 91, longtime Columbiana resident, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 24, 2018 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Palestine. Helen was born on November 9, 1926, in Leetonia, OH, a daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret (LaVelle) Crawford. A Leetonia High School graduate, she married Richard T. Winegord on November 29, 1945, and together they raised two daughters.

Helen was a devoted member of Grace Church of Columbiana. She taught adult Sunday school, or ‘Friendly Class’ for many years. She was also a member of the Columbiana Women’s Club and Columbiana Historical Society.

Passionate about her Irish heritage, she was thrilled to visit Ireland with her daughters. Helen enjoyed collecting antiques, was a well-known bridge player, and enjoyed teaching others the game. Her greatest joy was her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who visited with her often.

Helen leaves to cherish her memories her daughters Carol Gibson and her husband Rick of Shepherdstown, WV and Wendy Boyles and her husband Rich of New Waterford; five grandchildren, Aaron Gibson, Claire (Adam) Webb, Tyler Gibson, Jay (Samantha) Boyles, and Jody (Jeff) Hardy; and five great-grandchildren Addie and Jemma, Dylan, and Jordan and Jackson, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard who passed away June 27, 2008, and two brothers John and Dan Crawford and sister Mary Smith. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana with the Rev.

Rob Joy officiating. The family will receive friends at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana, one hour prior to the services, at 10 a.m. on April 28. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in Helen’s memory to Grace Church, 140 S. Main Street, Columbiana, OH 44408.
