Helen Kay Linsday, 80, of Brady, passed away on February 28, 2018 at Linden Court in North Platte, NE. Helen Kay (Healey) Linsday was born on December 17th, 1937 in Creston, IA to William “Bill” and Beulah “Boo” (Reed) Healey. The family moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska in the spring of 1938 where Kay grew up and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1956.

The fall of 1956, Kay enrolled in college at the University of Texas, where she ended up receiving her nursing degree. After college she worked for United Airlines which landed her in the Los Angles area where she began her nursing career at the UCLA Medical Center. Kay married Wilfred Charles Wehnes, who had three children; Terry, Edie and Robert, all were raised and grew up in the Los Angeles and Santa Monica areas.

Kay enjoyed summer trips back to Jeffery Lake with her children and adventurous trips with her parents and her Auntie Helen (Healey), including a journey to the Panama Canal in 1984. Kay was remarried to Herbert Edward Linsday on September 28th, 1985 at the Brentwood Presbyterian Church. The couple resided in Santa Monica until the summer of 2003 when they retired to Jeffery Lake, a place that Kay had always remembered as home.

The couple enjoyed playing cards, traveling and taking cruises. After Herb’s passing in 2008, Kay enjoyed the solitude and serenity of Jeffery Lake, the Fox News channel, 100’s of games of Solitaire everyday and always welcomed neighbors, friends and family who stopped by for a visit, brief or extended. Survivors include her children Arthur Terry Wehnes & Dana Kujawa of Evergreen, CO, Edith Karen (Mike) Patton of Hawthrone, CA, Robert Charles Wehnes of Gothenburg, NE; grandchildren Russel (Yolanda) Patton and Crystal Patton; great grandchildren Evan Patton, Isabelle Patton, Zoe Aguilera; brother Terry (Cathy) Healey of Gothenburg; sister Jody (Dave) Mann of Jeffery Lake; along with loving nieces and nephew and extended family and friends. Kay was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Linsday, her parents William and Beulah Healey; sister Mary Ellen Healey and a grandson Brock Wehnes. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel with inurnment to follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Memorials can be sent to the donors choice or to Blase Strauser Memorial Chapels to be decided at a later date by the family.
