Helen Crawford, 78, a former resident at the Samaritan Summit Village passed away February 26, 2019 at the Hospice Residence of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm, where she was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 1st from 4 to 5:30 P.M. at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home 117 N. Massey St., Watertown. A memorial service will follow at 5:30P.M. at the funeral home.

She was born on January 29, 1941 in Marengo, Illinois, daughter of George and Loretta (Russell) Havens, she attended school in Illinois. She met Frederick Bishop of Ogdensburg while he was working in Illinois. The couple moved to Watertown where she enjoyed waitressing at the Harvest House, Victory Diner, Arcade Diner and Kmart for many years.

In her 30’s she earned her GED and graduated from Laponto’s Beauty School in Watertown. She then worked at JRC where she was a home health aid at the Evans Mills JRC Home for thirteen years. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, her jigsaw puzzles, doing makeup, dancing, music, traveling, taking rides with Freddy in his truck, watching her John Wayne movies and spending time with family and especially her grandchildren.

Among her survivors are her two daughters and their husbands she had with her companion Frederick Bishop, Mary and Mark Latour, Watertown, BettyJoe and Ricky Frazier, Watertown, four children with her first husband, Vicki and Gary Clemons, AZ, Jay and Belinda Crawford, IL, Greg and Devona Crawford, IL and Robert Crawford, IL, two brothers, Leon Havens and Jerald Havens, Illinois, three grandchildren, Joseph Wilcox, Cody Frazier, Mark Latour II, 7 great grandchildren, Cayleigh, Jayden, Joseph, Lakelyn, Raider, Nash, and Aubrey, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, her companion Frederick passed away in October 2010, six brothers, Chuck, Bill, George, Frank, Joe, and Bobby Havens and two sisters, Mary Pufahl and Agnes Yergler.
