CPT. Andrew F. Caswell, 35, of Carthage, passed away February 5, 2019. Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 9th at the Hart& Bruce Funeral Home 117 N. Massey St, Watertown.

The funeral service with military honors will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Andrew was born on December 17, 1983 in Ridgewood, NJ, son of Clarence Caswell and Luanne Caswell. He graduated from Decatur High School in 2002.

Following school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Carson, Fort Hood, Tripler, Fort Sam Houston, and most recently Fort Drum. While serving in the military he graduated from University of Nebraska, PA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and received his Master’s Degree in 2012, becoming a physician assistant. He would serve three Tours of duty in Iraq as a medic and one tour in Afghanistan as a physician assistant.

During his career in the military he received two Bronze Stars, seven Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, two Valorous Unit Awards, four Army Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, one Afghanistan Campaign Medals, five Iraqi Campaign Medals, four Overseas Service Ribbons, two Army Service Medals, NATO Medal, two Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medals, two Global War on Terrorism Service Medals, two Combat Medical Badges, a Driver and Mechanic Badge and one Non Commissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon. He married Tamara D. Johnson on September 2, 2018 in Pittsford, NY. Among his survivors are his devoted wife, Tamara D. Johnson-Caswell, Carthage, his four beloved children, David M. Caswell, Kaitlyn M. Caswell, Nathan D. Caswell and Alexander J. Johnson; his loving mother, Luanne Caswell, Marcellus, NY, his father, Clarence Caswell, Neosho, MO, his sister, Laura A. Caswell, Plano, TX; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Andrew enjoyed woodworking and most of all spending time with his children. He was a phenomenal medical practitioner and will be well missed professionally and more so by his family.
