OBITUARY Helen Lemonis McCulley February 29, 1940 – September 2, 2018 Helen Lemonis McCulley, age 78, of Tuscaloosa, passed away September 2,2018, at DCH Regional Medical Center. She was surrounded in passing by her loving family. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at noon on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Heritage Chapel in Tuscaloosa with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, A Dignity Memorial Provider directing.

Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Heritage Chapel. Born and raised in Tuscaloosa, she always deeply loved and served her hometown.

She loved to dance, especially with the Rock Back the Clock Revue. She was involved throughout her life in volunteering and serving the City of Tuscaloosa, previously winning West Alabama Easter Seals Volunteer of the Year Award. Additionally, she served as the President of the Tuscaloosa Hotel – Motel Association.

She loved attending (and never missed) anything involving her grandchildren including soccer games, singing engagements, and speeches. She will be remembered for always giving but never asking for anything in return. She taught her friends and family the meaning of love, presence, and perseverance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Trudie Lemonis, her cousin Betty Palmer, and her uncles Phillip and Johnny Lemonis. Survivors include her loving husband Travis McCulley; her daughter, Liza Wilson (David); her grandsons David II and Pete Wilson; the Lemonis Family; and many loving cousins. Pallbearers will be Larry Davis, Judge Gay Lake (ret), Brett Laney, Ira Lewis, JB Sims, David Wilson II, Pete Wilson, Judge Steve Wilson (ret), and Don Wright.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Tuscaloosa High School Class of 1958, the Rock Back the Clock Revue, Dr. Sakina Kamal, Dr. Brian Wilhite, nurses from DCH Regional Medical Center – CICU, former employees of Pete’s Restaurant, former members of the West Alabama Easter Seals Mall Ball Committee, and the Tuscaloosa Civitans. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Helen Lemonis McCulley to the “David Wilson II and Pete Wilson Endowed Scholarship” through the Alabama Alumni Association either online or to P.O.
