Helen Lowry Powell Thacker November 01, 1938 – May 01, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Memorial Donation Helen Lowry Powell Thacker went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 1, 2019. She was born November 1, 1938 to the late Neal J. and Mary Henry Lowry. She was preceded in death by her brothers; William “Billy” Lowry, Thomas “Tommy” Lowry, Carrol Lowry, James “Lee” Lowry and Neal “Junior” Lowry, and one sister, Ann Fincham.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had retired from Frank Ix and Sons after 35 years. She is survived by her loving husband, Earnest E. Thacker.

She also leaves behind her children; Joyce (Jim) Arnold of Batesville, Wayne (Pam) Powell of Keswick, Steve Powell of Palmyra, Sandy (Stephen) Durkee of Nellysford, Karen (Wayne) Samuel of Charlottesville, and Ernest “Dale” (Brenda) Thacker of Charlottesville. Helen is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Hospice of the Piedmont and Cancer Center at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Riverview Cemetery and will be officiated by Pastor Johnny Hartless.
