Helen Louise Broda flew into the arms of Jesus on October 17, 2018, in Oklahoma City, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Louise was born April 11, 1951, in San Diego, CA, into a Navy family. She lived in Japan as well as many states from coast to coast before settling in Oklahoma.

She was a gifted linguist and studied German in college. The Lord gave Louise many other talents as well; she was a writer, a poet, and a diarist, but most of all, she was an artist. Her art was in everything she touched, whether a garden filled with herbs and roses or in the tasty breads and pies she baked.

Louise attended Crossings Community Church and served in the Stephen Ministry. She used her knowledge of and love for Christ’s teachings to be a of comfort for the many people in her life. Along with her husband, the late David Broda, they used the power of drama to bring Christ into the hearts of many.

Louise was a loving wife and mother, a good sister, a beloved aunt and a faithful friend to many. She will be missed. Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David, and her mother, Dorothy Otto.

She is survived by her son, David McKinney and grandsons, Joshua and Justin Levy all of Florida; four sisters, Mary Gillette of Pennsylvania, Linda Lyshol of Michigan; Elizabeth Burns and Cathy Otto both of OKC; brother, William Otto of Pennsylvania; nieces, Candace Otto MacDonald of Cincinnati, Katrina Wallace of OKC, and Sarah Gens of Brooklyn; nephews, Axel Gillette of British Columbia and Thomas Gens of Michigan; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, including Glenda Blundell. Friends may visit at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home on Wednesday October 31 from 2 – 4 p.m. A private family burial at Fort Sill National Cemetery will precede a memorial service to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Crossings Community Church.
