Obituary for Henry Woodson Obituary of Henry Woodson Henry was the sixth child born to Frank and Irma Woodson, on July 19, 1950, in Oroville, California. He attended elementary school in Oroville and graduated from Las Plumas High School. While in high school he played tennis, ran track, but excelled in football.

He began his college career at Butte Community College. During this time, Henry would go back to Las Plumas and train student athletes, along with running multiple Little Leagues, and various youth sports throughout the Southside Community. He eventually transferred to Fresno State.

Due to a knee injury Henry decided to follow his community service-based passion. He was hired as the first black counselor at Butte Community College. He also taught classes, worked within the EOPS Department, and coached football.

In addition to working at Butte College, he began an After-School Program, provided Drug and Alcohol Counseling, and organized an annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Program within the community. Throughout his life he has touched the lives of many by providing opportunity, and opening doors for others. His family and friends will miss him.

Henry was preceded in death by: brothers, Tommy and Robert Woodson; sister, Anne Mae Woodson; parents, Frank and Irma Woodson; and aunt, Ruby Boone. Henry is survived by: son, Shepard Woodson; daughter, Yvanna Wheeler; grandchildren, Gevon, Janessa, and Jaylen Wheeler, and Zoey Edmond; brothers, Frank Jr, and Leon Woodson; sisters, Myrtis Brown and Gail Woodson; and aunt, Sally Glaude (Walker). In addition, Henry leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
